I'm SUPER picky when it comes to Italian, having grown up in an Italian (Fresh of the boat) restaurant-owning family. This place is delicious. Not your typical sloppy Italian. A varied menu. I had a mushroom pasta dish that was on special. Delish. I went with 7 people and all their meals were good. Veal Milanese also delish.

Great place. The dining room was a little loud due to the live entertainment. So we dined in a separate area with the bar that was nice and no where near as loud. Food was hot, fresh, tasty and well prepared. Service also was good. Recommended. Visited a few weeks ago as today is 6.10.11.

Great service that you won't find anywhere else. The food is great and consistent which is always important. The ambiance is great for a date (there is a violinist).

A friend took me there not long ago. OMG. It's a VERY romantic Italian restaurant. Could have never tell from the outside. The food is magnificent! The ambiance, chic, romantic. They have live music and the owner, Gianpiero, sings in italian! Ha, ha, very lively. They also have a separate bar, and you can even dance! There's a tall, Argentinian server, I'm not sure his name is Eduardo, he's something else. We shared the bottle of wine with him, made jokes... I don't know if it was because my date is friends with them, but I had the best time ever! Loved it!

I found out about Cappricio through Groupon. We had an excellent meal!! Every single thing, from bread to dessert, was absolutely delicious. The bread came with a very unique roasted garlic and onion spread. Definitely a nice change from the usual olive oil. I had the gnocchi with pesto and it was by far the best pesto sauce I'd ever had. My mom had the pollo limoncello -- I could eat that sauce by the spoonful. All of the dishes were very unique and different from the typical red sauce restaurants. Our waiter even brought us a complimentary huge strawberry Napoleon for dessert. I think the prices are very good, considering both the portion size and the quality of the food. Service was excellent. Our server wanted us to take our time and enjoy our wine and every course. He didn't rush us at all. Also, there was live entertainment and many couples were dancing. Great food, service, and atmosphere. I look forward to returning.

I was first introduced to this place through a work event. I feel like I'm walking into an old Italian restaurant in Italy (or that's how I dream they are in my head). I did not even know that this plaza had a restaurant in it after driving by for many years. I guess it would be considered a "Hidden" gem The servers are usually pretty friendly. Have had a few rough ones but meh.. I guess it happens? Food though is really really amazing. The portion sizes are great so that I am always able to taste some of someone else's food and they don't want to murder me. The food is always very tasty. I do suggest skipping those chain Italian restaurants and try Capriccios..

While food was delicious, the service was subpar. With a group of twenty and a bill over $700, the waiter REFUSED to provide separate checks! Moreover, my friend found (and chewed) a piece of metal in her pasta carbonara. It looked like a deformed paper clip and when we called the waiter over, he arrogantly asked if my friend was sure it wasn't parsley. They still charged her for her meal.... Smh

I've been coming here for years and definitely needed to make sure to write a review as this is the only place I will ever eat Italian food from. My favorite item is the chicken parm, prepared to perfection with my second favorite fiocchi! If you have dinner here an absolute must is the fiocchi appetizer. This is my go to spot for a romantic dinner or just catching up with my girlfriends. What sets the restaurant apart is the live music and old Italia ambiance. The staff is friendly and attentive. Always a great time when I come here, which is probably once a week :)

I'm in love with this place. My husband and I have been coming to this family owned business for years. The owners are always there offering the best service. On one side you have a formal dinner setting with a live vocalist, violinist and piano player. It's as authentic as it gets. On the other side, you have a laid back atmosphere with a full bar and live music. The musician plays and sings live Spanish, top 4os and oldies. Now let's move on to the good part the food! I swear for appetizer you need to get the fiocchi. It's filled with pear, Gorgonzola and ricotta cheese. To die for! Following that, some of our top favorites include the shrimp scampi, oso Buko or the cowboy steak. Delicious! Keep in mind these plates are huge. But you won't be disappointed. Side note: I had my bridal shower here in the back room. It's very spacious and the owners are willing to work on a menu with you and pricing!

This lovely gem is tucked away in a shopping plaza that harkens back to Florida in the mid 1980's / please don't let that fool you! This is one of the best Italian places in South Florida... It's a fantastic place for an intimate date... Run by Italians who know their game. If I could I would rate it higher. Everything from start to finish was amazing Tell them I sent you. Please dress nicely so we can keep this place the classy establishment that it is. Oh lastly, don't forget the lovely bar and live music

Terrible service. The amount of disrespect I received from the staff put this restaurant at the top of my shit list. The hostess was rude. The server was notorious for rolling his eyes at my every request. The environment was loud and unwelcoming. The food was okay, but not worth the price. I honestly do not have one positive thing to say about this place, and I tried my best to remain optimistic. Don't waste your time or money on this place when they obviously don't care about how they treat their guests.

Looking for a new place for our little golf group after Wednesday 18 we headed off to this long standing staple in Pembroke PInes. Lots of up and down reviews so not really sure what to expect. In a strip mall with plenty of free parking, the place reminds me of a modern so to speak throwback. Meaning chairs, tables and varied items were all very modern while the look to the place was old Italian classic. We were very early so we were only ones in the place as it opens. Diverse wine list not over priced regular water instead of bottled which was fine. Complimentary hot rolls with a absolute to die for crushed eggplant puree excellent. Started off with 3 items split for 6 Order of Fried Calamari with hot marinara dipping sauce.. fresh lightly battered and extremely tasty with a rich dipping marinara sauce. Top Notch. Mussels were split in the back for the two splitting his appetizer and they were absolutely delicious bordering on sauce that almost was as good as my mothers spicy marinara. A Homemade Pasta Carbonarra was rich creamy full of diced pancetta and flavorful beyond words. They split the house salads which come with the meal in the back for us as well and nice creamy garlic dressing. Entrees 2 Veal Parms have to be honest veal was top notch lightly battered and pounded boneless and sauce was ok but it was GOOD don't get me wrong just didn't ring the wow bell. Better were the 2 veal Capriccio with a cream sauce with mushrooms and fresh shrimp YUM split one veal Saltambocca over spinach. This was TOP NOTCH without being overpowering but tasty and well prepared. All entrees came with side pasta / vegetables or roasted potatoes A little of each was tried and everything was wonderful. Knocks off for Coffee which was very weak like dishwater sorry just being honest. Service absolutely top notch and waiters were on the ball all night. Really 4.5 stars here and a DEFINITE REPEAT IN THE FUTURE.

NPS = 10 Fantastic Italian in Pembroke Pines! Aside from the food being delicious, this restaurant is a case study for fantastic customer service! Anything you order here is scrumptious. If you make it out here on a Friday night, they have live music. You will see a crowd of +50 year old's (with their hearts in their 20's) breaking the dance floor down! You don't stop playing because you get old...you get old because you stop playing. :) We tried the buratta for appetizer as well as the calamari. The buratta was soft and creamy and came with baby heirloom tomatoes. The calamari sat within a basket of fried spaghetti. Delicious. For dinner, try ordering something off the menu. We asked what the specials were and included were the corvina (which is phenomenal and HUGE) and the snapper with mushroom and shrimp. This time around I went for the snapper with shrimp. The restaurant was gracious enough to split it into two so I could share with my girlfriend. They were even careful enough to make sure the fish was not cooked anywhere near the shrimp because of my girlfriend's food allergies. The deserts are out of this world as well. The tiramisu is some of the best and most authentic tiramisu I have ever had! The attentiveness of those serving us and their genuine care for us really made my night. Fabulous job, Capriccio's! I will absolutely return.

Service: 4 stars only because our server wasn't good at all. He took forever to come back to our table every time, he had a slight attitude. He didn't take everyone's drink order before he left. We were a party of 7. I know the other reviews said that service was great, so I'm sure it was just our server that wasn't up to par. Food: On the other hand, the food was absolutely delicious, large portions, and exactly like a family owned authentic Italian restaurant (well whatever an American would think is authentic Italian) rather than a chain. Would go back, but hope for a different server. Atmosphere: loved the music! Reminds me of being at my Italian grandmother's house. Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Humperdinck etc. all the great classics.

My husband and I had our rehearsal dinner here. Avoid at all costs, as our guests were not given service, drinks, or silverware to enjoy a memorable event. Our wedding was never acknowledged, and my husband had to approach the manager and raise his voice to get drinks for our party. Was a huge mistake have such an important event here, and I recommend that everyone avoid booking group parties here. It seems from the comments of the owner that there is a "cash bar" policy, which seemed to only be for certain guests, while certain guests were ignored and never given the option for a cash bar. My father wanted to buy drinks for everyone, but the sever ignored him multiple times. I will remember this as the meal where my husband stood up for me, and I knew I made the right decision with him, but wish someone had told me to go somewhere else for such a memorable meal. Karen commented on my husband's review with excuses. We booked multiple weeks in advance, put down a deposit, and confirmed with them days before. How could you not have a dedicated sever for 23 guests? The restaurant was not even that busy? What a sad excuse for a restaurant offering meals and gathering for large groups. Mario turned his back and disrespected my husband, my family, and all of our guests.

Was very excited to go for our 39 anniversary. Disappointed we were seated in the back room where there was no entertainment. I had made reservations so was surprised they stuck us in a back room. The service was good. My husband had the veal and that was not very good covered with mozzarella cheese and veal was not very good. The rest of our dinners was very good. We thought they would walk around and come in our room so we could enjoy the entertainment as well. that was the reason we choose to go here. We asked for pasta with garlic and oil as our side and they charge an extra $10.00 ( really for garlic and oil) Thought that was a bit ridiculous. Over all the food was good. We told the server it was our friend anniversary and thought they could have acknowledged it. Will not be back for a special occasion!

Karen thanks for the quick response, you must have seen "see additional tip comment on the bill?" Mario, the owner was very aware of the situation and ignored my guests multiple times until I got up and verbally raised my voice as he walked away from me. It was a cash bar for some guests, an open tab for some (mainly those he knew would be paying the bill such as myself), and was a sad excuse for service for a rehearsal dinner. I was never told of this policy, and see it is an sad a excuse for you to cover the terrible service my guests received. I was told guests were allowed to open a tab, and it seemed to be that everyone to the left and right of me a few seats could do that, but not the rest of my guests? Karen as you defend Mario and Cappricio's please answer these questions: 1. Why did my guests have no silverware upon seating? 2. Why did the severs ignore my guests multiple times when they were trying to get their attention to get silverware? (I eventually got up and got the silverware from an adjacent table) 3. Why did you servers ignore the father of my bride when he asked multiple times to order a round for drinks for the entire party? 4. Why did it take me approaching Mario to get service for my party, when I had booked this event weeks in advance? Why did we not have a dedicated sever? The restaurant was not even crowded, was everyone watching basketball or something in the back? 5. Why did Mario walk away, and turn his back to me while I was speaking? I look a man in the face and never disrespect someone, he obviously had no respect for me. 6. If you knew 23 people would be seated for a rehearsal dinner, why would you not have a dedicated sever for the party? 7. Multiple guests told me they were unable to get drinks or ask for service, and told me servers make eye contact with them yet kept walking. Could you explain to me why this occurred? 8. For your cash bar, why was it that some guests could open a tab, while some had to pay cash for every drink? Why was is that only me and the people around could open a tab while everyone else got a tab for each drink they purchased? My guests were perfectly comfortable opening a table with their credit card just like every other bar or restaurant in America. What a terrible excuse............ I'd love to see your answers so I could copy and paste so I could let my credit card know why I am cancelling the charge, and why everyone should skip booking you for any large party. I'll make sure every website similar to Yelp has a copy of your answers (Opentable, Google, Facebook, Trip Advisor, Urbansppon, Groupon, Yellow Pages, All Menus, Youtube, etc) In regards to the gratuity, I didn't pay 20% so don't worry about that, The server offered to remove it without me even asking about it. It was CLEAR that the service was horrible and did not require explanation. If you would like to contact me privately you have all of our contact information ( see the reservation and deposit we made). Other than that I would like all communications to be public, and known so no one else has to ruin important live events with you. Mario was a sad excuse for a manager, doing the bare minimum and taking action only after i screamed "NOW" at him as he walked away in shame. What a sad excuse for an owner.........

Having relatives and family in town from Southern Italy, I was looking for something as close to authentic Italian as possible. Fortunately, a friend of mine recommended this place, and what can I say. This place is as good as it gets. The service is great, and the owner singing(!) makes it even better. This is all before I even get to the food. The food is of course the best part. We started off with the Carpaccio di Manzo which had just the right amount of flavor and olive oil. After this, we tried the lasagna and risotto veneziana both of which were delicious and solid portion sizes. Then we tried the cacciucca di lipari (with the salmon) which was also excellent with fresh clams, scallops and mussels in a fantastic white wine sauce. All in all, this was a wonderful experience. Easily the best Italian food I've ever had in Florida and quite possibly the US (New York included). I would absolutely give this place more stars if I could. As a reminder, make sure to have a reservation if you going to come on the weekend as this place gets packed.

Wonderful Italian cuisine! Capriccios is a lovely dining experience for an intimate meal with loved ones. The spaghetti carbonarra is amazing, along with the snapper and seared tuna. To end the evening, try the ricotta cheescake - very good!

Atmosphere was fun 1980's with music! Drinks were good but ask for top shelf! All our food items were great homemade Italian and large servings! The wait staff was excellent and was very attentive!! We were celebrating birthdays and they gave us a great cake and ice cream desert! We will definitely be back!

We had a large birthday party. Everything was going fine until we got the main course. The Chicken Parmesan and Veal Marsala was AWFUL. My mother in law who paid for the party asked everybody how their meals tasted(about 30 ppl), and it was unanimous. BAD. No flavor whatsoever. The veal tasted as if it were frozen due to the fact that the sauce was watery. I had the veal and it totally sucked. I also tried the chicken parm from my wife's plate and it also lacked flavor. Most of the people didn't even finish their meals. When it came down to paying the bill, my mother in law wanted to speak to the manager. The owner, Mario, came and we told him the meals were overwhelmingly unsatisfactory. An argument broke out since he refused to refund my mother in law money towards the bill. Instead he gave her a $100 voucher. But why would we want to come back? Needless to say we will not be coming back. He can take his $100 voucher and stick it..

This is as authentic as it gets when 90% of the meat options are veal. I have come at least twice a year over the last 2 years and have even proposed to my fiancé here after our second wonderful experience. One of our favorite appetizers are the carpaccio and the mozzarella. We have tried their stuffed chicken breast, filet mignon, NY strip and even their chicken parmesan. The decor, live singing and the ambience of a family owned business, all come together for a very romantic atmosphere, yet subtle enough for a Saturday night out. If you don't make a reservation, expect to sit at the bar; but the visuals are stunning, from a large chandelier to the owners daughter serving up cocktails on command. We are not seafood people but based on the reviews and conversations from other tables, they know how to cook any protein! Come one, come all!

Capriccios is one of my family's favorite places to go on a Saturday night. The whole atmosphere makes me happy. The owner Jon Piero (sp) singing and Julio on the piano and Jorge on the violin,it just makes me smile to be there. My family goes every Saturday night and the staff makes us feel like one of the crew. Mario has got to be the best waiter I have ever had. We just love that guy! I can only speak about a few things on the menu because the first time I went ,I found the most delicious thing. Portabella Pappardelle. I think that what it's called, I never have to look at the menu because Mario just knows what I want. My husband loved the veal parmesan. I just can't say enough about this place. We just love it!

Excellent real Italian food in an unassuming strip mall at Sheridan and University. Good service, good food, none of the bland chain flavors of places like Brio or Carrabbas. Check it out!

The food is very good, service is top notch also. It is pricey for the amount of food you get but the taste makes up for it. the calamari appetizer was really good and you get allot .. we also got a grilled artichoke and shrimp appetizer it was excellent , there is no doubt that I will order this again. I just wish it was bigger. I had the seafood risotto it was very good. I will go back.

I was not fully impressed with the food, although the proportions are huge, but the service was impeccable. The waiters were very attentive. I was more impressed with their dessert. Their tiramisu presentation was unlike any tiramisu I've seen. At first glance, it looks like ice cream served on a piece of cookie, or maybe a scone. However, a scoop of this confirmed that yes, it is tiramisu, and a delicious one too. Perfectly moist, not too heavy with the mascarpone and whipped cream, and the espresso not too strong and overpowering, but just enough to leave you wanting for more. They also have a nice selection of cocktails, which I would have liked to try, would definitely come back to try some more.

HORRIBLE. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. This place is a sorry excuse for an Italian restaurant. Besides COMPLETELY RUINING my brothers wedding rehearsal dinner, the staff didn't even have the decency to own up to their mistakes. I mean what kind of restaurant owner walks AWAY from a guest bringing HIM business of 20+ people? Don't worry, Mario, we have warned family and friends around South Florida to steer clear of your establishment. Upon entering the restaurant, the staff seemed unenthusiastic, as if their night was just ruined by this party that was more then willing and able to leave a VERY generous tip to make this night special. Automatic gratuity? They're lucky they got anything, because not one of them deserved it. When we were seated, the awkward table shape made it hard for the bride and groom to be social with their guests. We didn't have silverware, and my water didn't get filled until after 30 minutes of being seated. I had to remind my server to fill up my glass because "I was in the corner and it was hard to see". Next, I asked him for a simple house margarita. After patiently waiting 20 minutes, I approached another server, whom rudely replied "I'll get it". After ANOTHER 10+ minutes my margarita finally came, melted ice and all. Not to mention having to pay drink by drink deterred me from buying another round. When the food finally came out, I noticed the servers scurried away as quick as they could. I know they sensed the disappointment in the air, but instead of assessing the situation and trying to make it better, they completely avoided us for the rest of the night. If you needed something, you had to get up and hunt a server down, which was extremely inconvenient considering we were trying to have a good time. The final straw was when EVERYBODY was more then eager to escape they took they're sweet time bringing the check. We were there for 3 hours, such a waste of time. If your restaurant is not qualified to handle large parties, THEN DONT TAKE THEM. You're restaurant had NO EXCUSE, besides poor management, to fail this hard. Olive Garden would've done a better job. Needless to say, I will not be returning.

I Usually will not try a under 27 Zagat Ristorante but it was a Saturday night and had been trying to impress a beautiful Latin lady so we drove by and place was packed . We had an hour wait and we went to bar and a had few drinks and told musician Danny please play so slow music. He did and my date was happy I like Italian places run by Italians. We had a very nice waiter Mario and I slipped Him a few fazzols and told him I'm trying to impress my date. He sent over the violinist and roses and my date was loving me. This place is the real deal How this place got such a low Zagat rating beyond me sure glad I went in I will never even look for another place to dine dance drink The place is like "forget a bout it". got a second and third date All is perfect. Try it but make reservations. !!!!!!!!

Always consistent. Great real Italian food! Michella in lounge area is a great head waiter looking out for all our needs. Lounge area is the spot with live music. At 10 O'clock, great energy with fantastic sounds to dance to. The Veal chop with baby mozzarella is enough for three people. Off the hook! Great wine list with reasonable pricing. The fried calamari in the pasta basket is tasty along with the real marinara accompaniment. You won't be disappointed with the fun dining experience to be had at Capriccio.

I am definitely a fan of Capriccio's - located in a sketchy shopping plaza but there is plenty of parking. Me and my party walked into the restaurant and looked around, it was kind of dead but we knew it would get packed. As we walked in, the hostess said to us "How may I help you?" as if we were lost. I said "Party of 3 please." to which she replied "Do you have a reservation?"... I didn't expect that response to say the least, because it was an empty restaurant and we were a small party. So I said "No - I wasn't under the impression we needed one for 3 people." Then she said "I'll see what I can do." REALLY? As if YOU'RE doing ME a favor going out of your way to find us a table. My friends were a little shocked at her response, too. Come to find out, she was the manager. The irony in that. The decor is one of my favorite things about this restaurant. It's like you are in a restaurant in Italy with the old school style decorations. I sat in the bar area and the chandelier on the bar is magnificent. It is huge and our corner table was perfect. We started off with a bottle of Bella Sera moscato and just drank the night away. Me being Italian and holding Italian food standards at a normally high expectation, I must say I was disappointed in the food. I ordered fried calamari and while the presentation was great, the calamari itself wasn't as good as I was expecting it to be. It lacked flavor and was just boring. I ordered a chicken Parmesan for my meal and it was OK. I wasn't crazy for the sauce and it was just okay. My friend ordered the filet mignon and it came in this nut sauce that was just horrible. The steak was good but the sauce was really bad. I will say that our waiter was excellent, I tipped 35% that night because the service was on point. Although the food was not as good as I had hoped for, the decor and the wait staff definitely make up for it. I'd say they are worth checking out.

This place was AMAZING. The lobster ravioli? DO IT. Service was on point, live music was great. The lasagna was delish, too. There was not anything we tried that wasn't GREAT. Came early on a Friday night, didn't need a reservation. Seated right away and throughly enjoyed our meal and ambience. Definitely on our list of places to come back.

It was the first time for us. The hostess was a little rude, she did not greet us, her first question was if I had a reservation or not. I made a reservation, the lady said that there was no reservation, after I told her to check again, she found it and seated us right away. After we sat down, we waited about 5 minutes until I finally got ahold of a random waiter and asked for menus. The food is a little pricey. The food is really tasty though. The plates are huge but the sides come in small portions, not what I expected. The atmosphere is wonderful, very romantic. Our waiter was very slow and a bit rude, the busser was more attentive than the actual waiter. Keep in mind, it was the day before Valentine's day, so overall it was ok for it being the first time. I'll try it again and see if the experience turns out better

Capriccio Ristorante opened in 1987 - my wife and I were married in 1987 - so guess where we celebrated our 27th anniversary recently? With Gil and the rest of the staff at Capriccio - and we were not disappointed. The food, the service, the atmosphere..... everything was perfect. Thank you Gil for making our special night out and the music was the icing on the cake. You are really missing a great time and fantastic Italian cuisine if you don't come out to Capriccio!

A little Italian gem tucked away in a shopping plaza. If you don't look for Capriccio's you probably would never even noticed it is there. My family raves about this place and I can totally see why after dining here. It is the perfect place for a group dinner or a romantic night for two. The staff was very good and always ready to serve you even when the restaurant fills up. One of my favorite things about my experience here was the fresh bread they bring you with chilled dipping sauce, we couldn't get enough of it. The menu is filled with delicious Italian items that will satisfy anybody you bring. From seafood to meat to chicken, every menu item I tried (even though I couldn't pronounce any of them) was fresh and delicious. Things that stood out were the calamari, the scallops, and the chicken Parmesan. The portions are huge here and most of the entrees come with a side of pasta and a salad (the dressing is sooooooo good). By the time we finished our meals we were so stuff we basically needed fork lifts to bring us out of the restaurant. If you're looking for a classy Italian place, I highly recommend you come here. It is a perfect way to experience Italian cuisine in Pembroke Pines.

We had reservations on a Saturday for my birthday. Good thing we did because it got full real quick. Good sign. They sat us right away and took our drinks order. I had the house merlot which was very good. The bread and the skinny bread sticks they bring out w a little marinara sauce for dipping is yummy. We ordered bruschetta (I know, more carbs right?) and my bf ordered a soup with greens and cheese in it. Not bad. First, I apologize for not photographing my main course. It was so delicious I couldn't put my fork down. I almost poked my bf's hand when he took some because I didn't want to share, lol. I ordered the pappadelle del noro pasta dish which is wide noodles served w a creamy Bolognese sauce. Order it!! So good. My bf had a pasta dish served with tender, large scallops and large shrimp w a marinara sauce. Very good as well. The service was awesome. Very attentive. Our waiter was knowledgeable and sweet. We didn't have room for dessert but we did mention about the free mini cannoli if u check in which they were very nice to bring out. It was good but I'm glad it was a mini because I think a regular size would be too sweet. They had a piano player and a violinist entertaining us. I don't know how much the bill was but my bf was pleased with it. This was a very good choice for my birthday dinner. I woke up today thinking of the food, lol. We will be back! Go check it out!! Cheers!

Nice place, loud in the evening, service was ok but disappointing food after reading all the good reviews. I may have chosen the wrong thing on the menu. Still looking for a proper Italian in the area.

Great service and great food!! Our waiter Gil was the bombdotcom!! Upscale dining yet you can be dress casual and not be given the hairy eyeball. Appetizer was jumbo shrimp wrapped in prosciutto in a grand marnier sauce. It was gone so fast!! Hubby had the veal saltimbocca and I had the scampi. Though I busted he waiters chops and said mine was better ( it is, LOL) it was delicious! Desert was a strawberry Napoleon. Do yourself a favor and save room!! We will be coming again soon!

My husband and I went here for the first time on a date. The buffalo mozzarella was great! My husband got the veal that was on a bed of spinach and I got the spinach and gorgonzola stuffed chicken. I forget the names of them on the menu. We also got the ricotta cheesecake. Everything was awesome!!!!!

Great neighborhood place. Yet another shopping strip find. I think I see a new list idea coming...hmmmmm Some friends invited the hubby and I for dinner last night. The place was pretty full despite it's location and it being a Wednesday night. Decor is over the top kitschy, full on 90's faux painting and actually kind of tacky. What it lacks in decor, it makes up for with it's food service and ambiance (in a corky way...read on) We started with some of the house focaccia with the sweet tomato sauce it comes with. (I could not stop finding things to dip into it!) We ordered the special appetizer ravioli featured and the frito mixto which was a mix of veggies, scallops and shrimp deep fried in a basket of fried pasta? Odd. Good. We ordered the lasagna, the pappardelle del Nord, Rigatoni a la siciliana, and the seafood special (see photos). All of the entrees came with a house salad and their house dressing which was very good. The entrees ended up all being delicious and fantastic portions. Throughout the night we were entertained by the pianist who played songs ranging from the 60's to 90's. Every 8-10 minutes or so there was a Happy Birthday or Happy Anniversary rendition. I would say the majority of the crowd on this night was older with a couple of 45 and under here and there. At one point our waiter Giuseppe took to the mic to sing a song I mostly did not understand. It was all a little kooky and over the top but it was somehow fun: that or the wine we brought was good. Maybe both? ($22.00 corkage fee by the way) We surprisingly still had room for dessert. We had a Napoleon and a couple of cannoli with cappuccinos to go with it all. The Napoleon was light, flaky and really nice! The cannoli was a little heavy handed with what seemed like anise for my taste but everyone else devoured it. At some point these 4 older couples got up to dance to a slow song and we all felt the need to join them. It was quite a rare sight considering our husbands are not the " let's dance!" type. It's the place. Not sure what it is but there is something charming about it that sucks you in. Go with an open mind and hungry! I can't wait to go again.

Capriccio is an elegant Italian restaurant that you want to go to for a special occasion. It is usually an older crowd and it has huge chandeliers and antique reproductions. I never had anything to eat here that was amazing but I enjoy sitting at the bar for a while with an appetizer. The only lacking quality is the staff can sometimes act like they don't care about you at all. One time even with reservations I waited several hours. I kept nudging my date to tip the guy some more. I think that was the problem.

Last night a friend celebrated her 100th birthday at Capriccio's. The atmosphere, service and food were excellent! I would definitely recommend this venue to anyone in the area looking for a great Italian meal.

I would not return. The waiter was borderline rude, the music was too loud, the food was average (shrimp scampi and shrimp w/veg), and it was overpriced. I would not return, nor would I recommend to others.

Phenomenal ! Hands down the best restaurant I have ever been to. The food was fantastic, every thing we had was great. Service was good, drinks were good. I had a shrimp & scallop dish in a tomato sauce which was exceptional. However, Don't be fooled by the two dollar signs. This place is on the pricy side. Most entrees are $29 - $40. But definitely better than Scarpetta at the fountainblu.

Went again for Easter early dinner. As usual this place never fails. Great romantic mom and pop restaurant. Louis was my server again and he has been working there for over 20 years that alone speaks volume. He had great suggestions and is eager to get something prepared however you like it. The pianist played my two requests... Great neighborhood restaurant. This is my favorite restaurant.

Great restaurant. It is set in an unpretentious plaza, but once you walk inside you will feel right at home. Extensive wine selection and delicious food. Service was professional and friendly. I haven't had better Italian in Broward. Entrees range from $24-35+ so go for a special occasion.

  • Andy C.

The food is really good. It's solid Italian fare. They will make you anything you want for the most part. Some good healthy choices as well. I had the broccoli rabe and veal pizziola (not on the menu). It was good. We had an appetizer of grilled shrimp, calamari, and veggies...excellent. It's not a hipster or romantic atmosphere. More old world family Italian. Piano player on this Sunday...(no comment)

The atmosphere is charming and romantic, however I ordered to go. The food is very VERY pricey. The employees were very nice and they were attentive when I walked in to pick up. The food was alright, however I do feel that it is very over priced. For example my lobster ravioli was $25 and I wasn't really blown away.

We're Italians from NY visiting my sister. She took us here for dinner. I was somewhat leery of Florida Italian so I ordered chicken parm. It was ok. The presentation was pretty. My husband ordered the same thing and it looked completely different. So much so that I questioned whether or not it was the same dish. My cutlet was thicker than I liked. My husband's was thinner and I liked it better. My brother-in-law had the lamb and he liked it. The bread was good and was served warm. My husband's dish came with roasted potatoes and there were maybe 4 little nuggets. My mom liked her veal parm. We were seated at 6:30 and left after 9. We didn't have dessert because our kids were done. The creamy italian dressing was delicious. The service was good. The decor was pretty.

Capriccio's has been a local favorite of mine for years. Consistently great food & service. Clientele tends to be on the older side but I'm not chatting it up with my neighbor so I don't care. Decor is dated but ok. What they lack in decor they make up for with service & fabulous food. I've only had their pasta dishes and they've all been perfectly cooked with the right amount of flavor.

  • Mike U.

Food is good and the portions are pretty big. We went with a large group and surprising enough, the appetizers and food came out in a timely consistent fashion while the rest of the restaurant was pretty busy. The live music in the background lures you into the atmosphere and makes you feel like if you were somewhere other than Pembroke Pines. The food was very tasty...Great Italian in the East Pines area. The only thing I continue to have on my mind was the waiter was somewhat pushy and did not thoroughly explain the menu items, all he kept saying was, "it's good, you should get it."

The best Italian we have been to in Broward. The food is spot-on, the decor is very nice and social, and service is very good. Definitely a highlight for Italian food. Great place to take guests, entertain friends, enjoy solid homemade-style food. Portions are large, the flavors are complex and interesting. You won't be disappointed coming here.

Excellent food, and service. Really great dishes. I don't know know much, but they were very good. Pastas, and salads you could tell were different then some chain place. This was the real deal, in regards to the menu. Would recommend .

One of the most horrible experiences I've had at a restaurant. Waiter older gentleman Gil asked "what do you want to eat" not even going over specials like he did with everyone else. Not only that but did not come over to our table to see ask how the food was etc meanwhile he was chatting with all other parties around our table. Maybe because we were a young couple, who knows. On a good note I had one drink with meal called guidotini and it was AMAZING.

So me and my kids moved to Pembroke Pines from Miami less than a year ago and are still getting to know our new neighborhood. We try going on Yelp adventures when we eat so we can check what's good around here and we came across this place. Well, when we walk in the guy in front asks us if we had a reservation, thank the lord it was dark because I was blushing from embarrassment because I obviously didn't. Either way they were nice enough to give me and my kids a table. Wellllllll, we felt so underdressed but looking around although this is definitely a more dressy environment I noticed a few jeans around so I eased up. Once we got the menu I was afraid to open it because I thought the prices were going to be crazy expensive but honestly for the quality and the quantity the prices are not bad at all. There is live music as well. Anyway, the waiter was really nice and recommended the sicilian mojito which was delicious. Not too strong and not too weak. We ordered the fried calamari and it was soooo good. It came in a bowl of fried noodles. We also ordered the eggplant with cheese appetizer. It was just as good.

This place is amazing. Their Eggplant Sicilian is my personal favorite, but everything is superb!! Love this place!

What a great italian meal. The calimari appetizer was probably the low point, nicely fried but hardly seasoned. Vegetable soup was flavorful with abundant fresh vegetables. Corvina was well prepared with a light cream sauce, barrimundi--the best this side of Australia! Crispy duck, exactly that, with a tasty berry sauce. Pasta with eggplant also excellent. Waiter was friendly and very helpful.

According to out wonderful waiter, they can make you anything you want here. I ordered a livornaise style fish which was not on the menu and they hit the ball out of the park. I was very impressed and we will be back. When I come back, of course, I will order something not on the menu :-)

We've been eating at Capriccio regularly for over ten years. The food is always great and the service is outstanding as well. I never hesitate to recommend this restaurant to friends, as I know they won't be disappointed. As others have mentioned, you wouldn't expect to find a fine dining restaurant in a shopping plaza, but don't let that fool you. Capriccio is definitely worth a try.

The live music was great one side they played more piano type the other side had a mix of salsa, rock, disco and other tunes. Food was good. Service was great. This place is worth a visit if you like good food and live music

came here for my sisters graduation and was pleasantly surprised after stumbling upon this place on yelp. both the service and food were very good. for appetizer, we ordered the fried calamari, eggplant tower and bruschetta. entrees included chicken & veal parm and lobster ravioli. after dinner the waiter came out with a cake and candle and sang congratulations to my sister. it was a really nice gesture and completely unplanned. during dinner, someone was playing the piano and violin. it set a really nice and relaxing atmosphere during dinner. they also have live music on fri and sat nights. I would definitely go back again.

Once again, a middle of the road Italian restaurant disguised as something special. Made reservations for 2 for this past Saturday evening...arrived about 10 minutes early to a PACKED placed. Waited at the front hostess desk for 10 minutes while they searched for my reservation. Off on the wrong foot. Finally was asked to follow a somewhat annoyed older gentleman who walked us to the other side of the place. Once there, he found our table was already occupied. Back again through the crowd to a table in the direct path of the kitchen and right behind the 'band'. Loud doesn't even begin to describe the atmosphere. I purposefully chose this place because it was touted as a very 'romantic' place and my new 'love' and I were celebrating 2 months together and I was going to tell her about some romantic feelings I had for her. NO CHANCE. I could barely hear her and had to yell over the din! Waiter arrived...seemed nice enough...took a wine order and came back to tell us the specialties for the evening. Strange...I always find it strange when 'red-sauce' restaurants attempt to go 5 star...i.e. 'we have 3 jumbo shrimp on 3 slices of pineapple topped with a strawberry'.. Really? Didn't sound very appetizing. But there was the Chicken breast that was prepared with fennel and raspberry sauce. Hmmmm....not even going to take the time to figure that one out. Only special that sounded quasi-decent was stuffed flounder. Stuffing consisted of spinach and smoked mozzarella. Passed...didn't trust the 'freshness' based on the experience thus far. Settled for 'safe' items from their 'typical' menu. Waiter virtually insisted on us ordering an appetizer (I hate when they do that!) so we placed an order for Bruschetta (the waiter made it a point that I 'mispronounced' the order) and a mozzarella platter. Both arrive in a timely fashion and were nothing to talk about....very pretty presentation...totally tasteless...the cheese was not made with salt and the tomatoes were virtually pulp. Nice use of 3 strips of tri-colored roasted pepper for aesthetics! The Bruschetta was run of the mill with the same tasteless tomatoes chopped on 4 small slices of bread. So far not impressed. The music (?) was loud and quite pathetic. A singer (?) who didn't know any of the words to any song he sang (made me think he was the un-employed brother in law of the owner!) and a decent piano player. Not only loud, but annoying to boot! We consumed 2 rounds of wine (quite good and quite overpriced) and dinner came out. Looked decent, but typical Eye-talian fare. (By the way, I'm Italian American so don't take offense!). The wait between the courses was quite reasonable with attention given to us by the waitstaff. We order a canoli which we split...nice but was swimming in chocolate sauce...and asked for the bill. One-hundred and fifty dollars later (with tip) we finally left. Last time here...I have NO problem paying this kind of money for a classic evening out...but this place didn't deliver. Maybe for a pizza or 'spaghetti and meatballs', but not the faux 5 star items that only made me laugh. Spend your hard earned dollars elsewhere!

We went last satuday for a birthday. The place inside looks great as most reviewers have stated. The food was good however the service completely missed the mark: 1) a party of 10, main course meal took over 1 1/2 to be served. The appetizers took an 1 hour to be served. I understand its a big party, but it shouldn't take this long when meals and appertizers orders were taking at the same time. 2) The waiter took upon himself to hand write his tip amount in the signature section without giving me an option to do it myself! 3) The waiter lacked patience and was plain rude for someone who was trying to find a dish that was vegetarian. In fact, the waiter took a salad plate and tossed it in front of the vegetarian customer! The place has great food, however what makes a restaurant complete is its service.

My husband and I ate here on our wedding anniversary 2 years ago. I found the place online and was immediately impressed by their zagat rating, and the fact that they have live music, so I decided to give it a try. The place is kind of hidden, and you wouldn't notice it unless you have been there or are looking. The atmosphere was very romantic, there was a gentleman playing music, and the place was nice and clean from what we could tell(the lighting is very dim). Although I can't recall the dishes we had, I remember the food was tasty. We did have escargot for an appetizer and it was delicious! The service was great and we had a wonderful evening.

Went to this place twice. 1st time was great. Good food, good service. I invited 10 friends there n was so disappointed and embarrassed that I wont go there again. Service was horrible that waiter needs to find another career! Food was so bland. I ate my dinner out of shame. I know they were busy that night but its no excuse. This place is not consistent at all. If you go there & it's busy u r better off going somewhere else.

I have past this place for years and it's always seemed to be full. My husband and I were intrigued because it really looks like a whole in wall from the street. I looked at the menu online and made a reservation for our next date night. I was pleasantly surprised by the inside was beautifully decorated, very romantic and intimate feel. We were seated immediately and waited by several waiters. We had bread immediately and our drinks. The sauce that comes with the bread is insanely good and there is PLENTY of wines to choose from. The sauce from the bread has a sweet taste that goes perfectly with the bread. We ordered for appetizer the Fried Calamari that comes in a Spaghetti bowl. It was okay. The calamari was chewy but it was plentiful and very good presentation BUT I would not order it again. Now for my entree I took the waiters advice and had the Lobster Spaghetti, it had a fancy name. Don't remember what it was called. This has to be the very best pasta I have EVERY had! It was Delicious. My Husband ordered Gnocchi which he also loved. Around 7ish a band come out to play romantic music. It was a perfect place for date night. I would definitely come back. It seems though that if you are a regular you get more attention from the waiters. We didn't have this problem because our waiter was new. I do recommend making reservations. Seems like people come and stay for a while.

We had such a great time here! It's a romantic, cozy restaurant with good food and great service. Everyone, from the host to our servers, the musicians, and the girl who took pictures for us was friendly and happy which helped to create the welcoming atmosphere. We started with a good bread basket, and complimentary mussels, not my fave but polished off by the group. There were 5 of us and we ordered shrimp, veal, stuffed chicken, pork chops, and my husband had his favorite, spaghetti carbonera. We all were very happy with our dinners. We didn't order dessert but they brought a dish of ice cream with a candle and serenaded my hubby, the birthday boy. So glad my friend recommended Capriccio's - we will definitely be returning!

This place was really good! It's definitely geared towards a more vintage crowd, but the food is super tasty and the check in offer for a glass of wine was great! Our waiter was super kind and caring, friendly and attentive. He made some great suggestions and was on top of everything. It's not the best Italian food in South Florida (that, in my opinion is Fratelli Milano in Miami), but it's in Broward county, and easily the best Italian in the area. Kudos to the owners for being hip to Yelp and caring for the quality of their food and service.

A little hidden secret! The service wow the attention you get at this place is very impressing. Very short wait for our table, once we were seated the table was very nicely laid out. Very attentive our drink order was taken, shortly after we order appetizer, very fast served; Capricco di tonna and Capricco di Manzo, in other words tuna and filet mignon Capricco, raw tuna with onions, capers, lemons and olive oil, and filet mignon with onions, capers, Parmesan cheese with olive oil. For my entree I had Aragota Thermidor which lobster, shrimp, scallops, sauteed shallots mushrooms and asparagus in a light cream sauce, WOW! WOW! WOW! I absolutely LOVED my dish. Everything all together just tasted like a piece of heaven. I am a BIG time seafood lover and this dish hit the SPOT!!! The ambience very nice, the live music was a great touch, the lighting the decor very cute. All together great services, great food what else can ask for.

This restaurant deserves 100 stars in their quality Italian food. I have been going to this place since we hosted our wedding rehearsal dinner and everytime, it gets better. We went to Capriccio to celebrate our Anniversary and we had a great time. It is family friendly, we went with our kids, yet very cozy and romantic if you go alone. The foods was great, everything we ordered was as expected and within normal wait time. Our waiter was Oscar and he was very professional. The music was also very nice (piano played by Julio). Overall... GREAT!! We will return and would recommend.

Great place to take your date ;) The waiter was very friendly and the place is very romantic. I ordered some wine and a veal pasta with mushroom sauce - it was not bad. My date ordered fish recommended by the waiter and it was really good! Towards the end of the night they had piano player and he came to us asked us what song we would like for him to play for us - I told The Godfather..I felt like a bad-ass! Was awesome haha.

What is it with these wanna-be Italian restaurants? This is the second one I have eaten at in this area and I'm tempted to stop trying restaurants like this. I bought a Groupon and my wife and I decided to call up another couple to join us and they agreed. Neither one of us had eaten here before which is why I bought the Groupon. The waiter's in these types of places start out the night all friendly like and then once you order the meal, they basically forgot about you and only bring bread, fill water glasses, etc. when you ask them to. I ordered a chicken dish with peppers and mushrooms in a red sauce and pasta on the side. The dish wasn't bad although it was on the smaller side for the price. I did like that you get a side of pasta b/c the dish alone probably isn't going to fill most people up. The bread was also really tasty and it made up for the smaller portion of chicken. Our waiter was fine up until we ordered the entree and then, as expected, he only came over when called upon. And the most annoying thing ever: we had to decide who was going to pay what based on the Groupon getting deducted from the check. So while we were deciding, the waiter actually stood over us and waited while we discussed the payments and who was paying with cash and who was paying by credit card. And he not only stood there watching us, he had the bravado to offer his pen for us to write the payments down on the back of the check. What is your problem? If it hadn't been getting late and we all wanted to go home, I would have deliberately took a long time to pay the bill just to make him feel awkward. Does he does this with all of his customers? Just let us figure it out and we'll check back in a few minutes. Maybe I should have gone to the bathroom and upon my return to the table, crept up behind him and yelled, "Boo!" But alas, I just wanted to get out of there so I wasn't thinking straight. We finally decided o the payments and left the restaurant. I am honestly not sure if I would go back here. Maybe with a different waiter on a different night might provide me with a better experience. The food wasn't bad; however, I have had better and the prices are a little high for what you get.

This restaurant has an outdoor/courtyard theme, with a very rustic feel. The food was good and the service was excellent. There was also live music, the Pianist was asking for song requests, which I thought was very nice.

our first time in after a recommendation from a friend and Capricco's did not disappoint. outstanding meal. wonderful evening out. the service was fantastic. our waiter really made the experience complete. the atmosphere is friendly. the decor probably a tad dated, however the whole thing works. there was live music when we were there and we particularly enjoyed the violin. the waiter recommended a wine and cocktails that were perfect. My mother-in-law said her mojito was the best she ever had...we had a mozzarella appetizer that was delicious although a little too small for sharing. i had the pasta fagioli which was perfect. our entrees were nice sized portions. the wife loved the tuna steak cooked to perfection. the veal with wild mushrooms was light and tender. the lasagna was amazing. the kitchen will prepare whatever you want, if its on the menu or not. Capricco's is going to be our go to spot for Italian from now on. you wont be disappointed

I like this place. When I go back I'll give them the extra star granted it gets better with time like wine. Very fresh, tasty and lovely atmosphere with the older Italian gentleman singing and playing the piano (wasn't it?). It's been so long I thought I wrote this review already. I just know they don't overdue the sauce and it doesn't taste chain-like with a stick of butter and oil as flavor. I also remember I enjoyed beyond the first three bites unlike some Italian restaurants... The price is comparable to Casa D'Angelo but it's well worth it.

I have been here many times but today was my last visit. My friends rave about the food here but I find the food to be bland. The food is too expensive to not be better. I took it home, added salt and it was actually good. In all fairness the ambience was great. Try it for yourself, perhaps it 's just me.

I will start by saying that they have the best service that I have ever experienced in any restaurant. The staff was friendly, polite, and so efficient, they made it such a pleasure to eat here. The food was also very good. Well thought out and executed dishes. We had a special appetizer of stuffed shrimp, stuffed with crab and then lightly fried on the outside. There was a tasty sauce on the plate with it, so delicious that my husband used his bread to lap it up. He had the penne with shrimp and mushrooms and he said it was delicious. It said baby shrimp in the description, but they were actually quite sizable and there were plenty of them in the dish. I had the tuna steak, which was sushi grade, so I got it blue, and it was prepared perfectly, with a crisp sesame seed crust on the outside. The sides were the only reason I didn't give them 5 stars. I don't even know what the veggie attempt was on my plate, I tried it, but it was not really edible. A side of potatoes, just ehhh, bland. I should have got pasta as my side instead, which I will do for sure next time. All the desert selections were your typical Italian deserts, which we took pass on. We ordered a reasonably priced bottle of wine which was excellent. Prices were in line for the quality of food and service. We will be returning for sure!

Took my boyfriend here to celebrate his birthday. He's very picky about food but he loved this place. The food was awesome! I had the penne with shrimp which was delicious. He had the Cacciucca di Lipari (a mix of pasta with Salmon, Calamari, Scallops, Clams, Shrimp in white wine sauce...it was a huge plate. He really enjoyed it. We weren't crazy about the music...and for some reason it seemed to be everybody's birthday because every couple of minutes they were singing Happy Birthday to someone there. Other than that we had a great time. Plus the service was very good.

I've been coming here for almost 20 years. The food is great and the service as well, Mario is the best! Great local place. It hasn't changed much over the years and there tends to be an older crowd there, but its definitely worth it.

A neighborhood italian restaurant with a vibrant atmosphere, decent prices, and truly excellent food. I hope to one day be considered a local there.

My husband and I decided to try this place a few months back, and we were not disappointed. We went there for dinner and had a variety of delicious Italian food, and lots of wine. The dishes were fresh and authentic, and the service was excellent. We were there for a while and had a nice relaxing dinner. Although a bit on the pricier side, the lovely atmosphere was worth it.

My girlfriend and I had dinner Valentines evening. The two of us had a great time and the food was excellent. Service was excellent especially considering it was a holiday and a full house. We too tried the Karen Cosmo, it was good. The steak, however, was great. We will surely be back.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
